Dear Flowering Rock Farm Community,
Spring is HERE! March was a very busy month for our farm and we are thankful for warmer weather. Check out some of our recent happenings!
Garden is Growing: This past month, we have built new flower beds, sowed hundreds of seeds indoors and in our greenhouse, and transplanted cool season flowers like snapdragons, feverfew, yarrow, calendula, and strawflower. We are looking forward to providing these flowers for your home or business!
Flower CSA: We are excited to offer a summer flower CSA subscription starting this July! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It connects you, the consumer, directly with our farm by purchasing weekly “shares” of our farm’s harvest upfront at the beginning of a season. With that commitment early on, we are able to invest in the growing season. You can purchase our CSA now at our online store! Buy for yourself or friend with options for local delivery.
Farm Stand: Our farm stand has reopened with eggs for purchase! Unfortunately, we are only open for locals because of road closures, but we are excited to serve our local community. Construction on 74A begins this month and is expected to continue until 2027. We will have our stand open to local traffic as long as we are able to.
Flower Bar: Our flower bar will be available for your events come May. It would be a great addition to a bridal shower, baby shower, birthday party, or other special event. Reserve your date today!
Baby Chicks: Our baby chicks are now 3 weeks old and we have more hatching this week! Chicks are sold as straight run. Pullets will be available in June and laying hens will be ready come August. Currently, our chicks are mixed golden comets, black Australorps, silkies, Olive Eggers, and Blue Andalusians. We will be hatching pure bred black Australorps from a breeder and offering them exclusively in the future.
Thank you ASAP: Last month we shared that we are now Appalachian Grown Certified and received a Marketing Cost Share Grant through ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project). We now have a new farm sign, farm banner for upcoming markets and events, business cards, farm shirts, and car magnets!
Save the Date: We are so excited to kick off the market season next month! We hope to see you at one of the events below.
- Saturday, May 3: WNC Regional Farmer’s Market Spring Festival 8AM-5PM
- Tuesday, May 6: Opening day of the Fletcher Community Farmer’s Market 3-6PM
As always, we’re incredibly grateful for your support as we continue to grow and nurture our farm. If you have any questions or want to subscribe to our newsletter, feel free to reach out. We hope to see you soon!
With love and gratitude,
The Stanfords
